The writing of the book started on 12th June 1874.
Swami Dayanand’s mother tongue was Gujarati but he spoke Sanskrit fluently. Babu Keshavachandra advised him to preach in Hindi to reach the masses. Hence, he had to switch over to Hindi as a medium of communication.
Rama Jayakrishna, an admirer of Swami Dayanand insisted that Swami Ji compiled his ideas in a book form so as those who did not attend the sermons and the future generation can derive benefits from the books.
He even provided a Hindi writer called Chandrasekhara Shastri. While, Swami Ji was dictating, Shastri Ji was writing. This exercise started on the 12th of June 1874 and ended in September 1874.
The month of June is considered the month of the Satyarth Prakash. Let us delve into the meaning of the ‘Satyarth Prakash’. ‘Satya’ is the truth, ‘arth’ is the meaning while ‘prakash’ means light; that is the light of truth.
